There’s a new elephant in the room designed to get people talking about behavioral health and bring an end to the stigma of addiction and mental health issues.

Meet Big Elephant — a Northeast Ohio nonprofit created last year as a response to the challenges one family faced after losing a loved one to the disease of addiction.

Founded by two couples related by marriage — Jason and Tracy Morrow, and Ron and Rita Stupka — the organization’s mission is to raise awareness by opening a dialogue about substance abuse and by connecting those in need, especially young people, to recovery resources such as prevention services, screening, assessment and treatment.
